Nutritional Therapy
The old adage ‘you are what you eat’ is at the core of nutritional therapy and is indeed true! This is because your body needs the correct nutrients to function well at a bio-chemical level. It is a sobering thought that everything we eat or drink gives the body a message, The question is are your messages beneficial or detrimental? (leading to optimal or poor health).
Without the right nutrition, the body compensates for us until it tells us by signs, symptoms and disease that its resilience is running out. Fortunately a balance can be re-addressed by analysis of our food / drink habits and lifestyle. Nutritional Therapy is a scientific, sound way to take us back to Optimal Health and maintain it, as well as prevent onset of discomfort and disease.
Correct nutrition affects us from top to toe; most commonly I see clients with lack of energy; potential 'allergies'; IBS; weight gain; depression; menopausal symptoms; fibromyalgia; high cholesterol, blood pressure and triglycerides. Whatever your health problems call me to find out if I can help on 01202 476833.
Christine Perry
I am based in Christchurch, Dorset and qualified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in 1997. You may be familiar with the ION credentials, with Patrick Holford as its founder, and graduates such as ‘The Food Doctor’ (Ian Marber) and TV nutritional presenters Vicky Edgeson and Charlotte Watts.
Over the past 12 years I have worked on a one to one consultation basis with people from every walk of life, at every stage and with many different health concerns. I have also lectured for ION and given many presentations to practitioners, corporations and the public.
Alongside this I have always worked with Nutritional Therapy students training them in the clinical skills needed to become a professional therapist.
I am fully insured and a member of The British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) www.bant.org.uk the Nutritional Therapy Council (NTC) www.nutritionaltherapycouncil.org and a referral therapist for Nuffield Proactive health.
Consultations
The consultation process begins by you completing a questionnaire to bring to your first consultation. This provides a starting point for us to discuss your aims and needs. We shall take a detailed look at your history, diet and lifestyle habits. In order to help you I need to discover, where possible, the underlying reasons for your health issues.
By the end of your initial one hour consultation, we shall have worked together to plan your first steps to better health. It naturally takes some time for the body to regenerate. Some issues take longer to resolve than others. Nutritional Therapy is rarely a ‘quick fix’; remember you are working toward better health for life.
Follow up consultations are usually ½ an hour and vary from 3 – 6 weeks later. Each step is one taken towards better and long term health. As Nutritional Therapy works in the realm of 'Functional Medicine' we may also discuss the use of tests to help determine how your body is working and the use of supplements to support your progress.
Fees
- Initial 1 hour consultation £75.00
- Follow up ½ hour consultations £40.00
- Fees include support between consultations by phone and email
- Tests and supplements are individually priced and additional to consultation fees
- Payment may be made by cash or cheque
