What is Nutritional Therapy?
Who am I?

What is the financial investment for you?
Nutritional Therapy
The old adage ‘you are what you eat’ is at the core of nutritional therapy and is indeed true! The body needs the correct nutrients to function well at a bio-chemical level. It is a sobering thought that everything we eat or drink gives the body a message, the question is are those messages beneficial or detrimental, leading to optimal or poor health.
Without the right input the body compensates for us until it tells us by signs, symptoms and disease states that its resilience is running out. A balance can be re-addressed by analysis of our food / drink habits and lifestyle. Nutritional Therapy is a scientific, sound way to take us back to Optimal Health and maintain it, as well as prevent onset of discomfort and eventually diagnosed disease states such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovasculkar disease (high cholesterol, high blood pressure) or IBS.
Everyone can take charge of their health through their diet and lifestyle, that includes YOU. Most of us need help, education and motivation. This is what I aim to provide.
My profile
I qualified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition founded in 1997. You may be familiar with the ION credentials with Patrick Holford as its founder and graduates such as ‘The Food Doctor’, Ian Marber and TV nutritional advisers Vicky Edgeson and Charlotte Watts.
Over the past 12 years I have worked on a 1:1 consultation basis with people from every walk of life, at every stage and with many different health concerns, helping them work towards a better level of wellness. I have also lectured for ION and given many presentations to practitioners and the public.
Alongside this I have always worked with Nutritional Therapy students training them in the clinical skills needed to become a successful therapist
One on one consultations
The consultation process begins by you completing a questionnaire to bring to your first consultation. This provides a jumping off point for us to discuss your aims and needs as well as taking a detailed look at your history, dietary and lifestyle habits. In order to help you I need to discover, where possible, the underlying reasons you have the health issues you are presenting with.
By the end of your initial one hour consultation we shall have worked together to plan your first steps to better health and you take a programme away with you to work with. I say start as it usually takes some time for the body to regenerate and dependant upon how long you have had your ill health and its severity some issues take longer to resolve than others. Nutritional Therapy is rarely a ‘quick fix’; this is better health for life that you are buying in to.
Follow up consultations are usually ½ an hour unless we feel longer would be beneficial and vary from 3 – 6 weeks later. Each step is one taken towards better and long term health.
As Nutritional Therapy works in the realm of Functional Medicine we may also discuss the use of tests to help determine how your body is working and also the use of supplements to support your progress.
How can Nutritional Therapy help you?
Because our dietary intake determines how our body functions getting this right can help you to be as healthy as you can be. This alongside healthy lifestyle choices builds a new you! What ever it is you wish to ‘get rid of’, it is worth exploring the benefits from heart problems, weight management, arthritis, IBS, menopausal symptoms, food intolerance to pre-conceptual care and enhancing sports performance. Contact me to discuss your needs and I can explain how I can help.
